Managing Conflict
to Resolution
With Robert Cravalho

Conflict is a natural part of every human interaction; in business, in our personal relationships, and in life in general.  The key is not to avoid conflict but how to manage the situation to a successful resolution.  Using a real life tragic incident in Hawaii, see how practical conflict resolution techniques were effectively applied to bring this situation under control.

Robert recently retired from the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) after 29 years of service to our community.  While a detective assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division, he was a member of the HPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team.  The knowledge and experience he gained as a negotiator has skilled him in managing conflict.  Robert will share the theories and practices used by law enforcement when dealing with these situations in an effort to provide us with some tools to rely on when dealing with differences in our own lives as leaders.

Robert is currently employed by the National Football League as Security Representative for the State of Hawaii.  He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Hawaii at Mano`a and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.  Robert serves the students at the Hawaii Pacific University as an adjunct professor and administers justice administration courses.  When he finds the time, Robert enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with the HPD’s X-Solo Motorcycle Club.
