Data Driven Diversity


Organizations whether corporate, governmental, or nonprofit are asking how they can create greater diversity in their organizations. In this interactive session, participants will review a variety of data sources across the talent pipeline to assess diversity within their organizations.


Learning objectives

  • Participants will learn to identify components in the talent management process
  • Participants will understand how diversity issues impact each of these components.
  • Participants will learn what data can be used to evaluate diversity across the components of the talent management process.

Dr. Sy Islam


Sy has been an ATD Long Island member since 2013. He currently serves as the Director of Programming for the Long Island Chapter of the Association for Talent Development and is a former President of ATD LI. He serves as the Co-Chair of the People Analytics Special Interest Group (SIG) for ATD NYC He is an Associate Professor of Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Farmingdale State College. Sy is also co-founder and Vice President of Consulting with Talent Metrics, a people analytics consulting firm. Through Talent Metrics, he collaborates with organizations in his areas of expertise: training, evaluation, selection, survey design, performance management, and team building. Sy has delivered presentations for I-O Shaken and not Stirred and Disrupt HR Long Island and won the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology’s Scientist-Practitioner Presidential Recognition Award for his focus on science driven practices in training and talent development.
