Jerome Bautista, President, is the Senior Performance and Learning Specialist at HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union. He serves as a performance consultant supporting the learning and development needs of the organization, specializing in the creation eLearning content, managing the Emerging Leader program, and facilitating instructor-led training. Prior to joining HawaiiUSA, Jerome worked for HouseMart ACE Hardware/Ben Franklin Crafts as a Human Resources/Training and Development Coordinator. Jerome is a designated SHRM-CP (SHRM-Certified Professional), has an MA in Organizational Development and Change, and served in board capacities for the Financial Education Alliance of Hawai`i and the Walkie Talkies Toastmasters. Jerome is an active volunteer, helping Hawai'i’s community through the Waikiki Neighborhood Board, Waikiki Aquarium, and HIHO Hawai'i. Connect with him on LinkedIn.

 

 




Ai Tanaka, Past President, is a Senior Consultant of Continuous Improvement, Organizational Development & Effectiveness at HMSA/Blue Cross Blue Shield of Hawai'i. Originally from Japan, she moved to Hawai'i in 2012 to be a super aunty for her nephew, Aiden. At HMSA, she is responsible for providing strategic and transformational leadership to cross-functional teams for a variety of continuous improvement efforts in the company. Prior, she worked for an operations management consulting firm in Connecticut for 15 years, initially starting out in training & organizational development roles, then later consulting for small to Fortune 100 manufacturing clients across the U.S., Mexico and Russia to help improve safety, quality and productivity utilizing the Toyota Production System (TPS/Lean). Ai's passion is not only to build process excellence and efficient systems, but also to foster employee engagement and people development in the process of change. She holds an M.A. in Intercultural and International Management from School for International Training and B.A. from University of California, San Diego. Ai currently serves on the ATD National Program Advisory Committee, helping to organize an annual conference for ATD chapter leaders across the U.S. Ai is married to David Acklin who introduced her to ATD Hawai'i, and splits time between Honolulu and Sapporo, Japan. Gwen Navarrete Klapperich, M.Ed., CPLP®, Co-VP of Events, is Chief Learning Consultant of Klapperich International Training Associates (KITA) LLC, a talent development consulting firm that specializes in health and safety training, diversity & inclusion projects, and advocacy for people with employment barriers.  She holds over 15 years of experience in training & development, customer service supervision, and quality assurance initiatives, and has worked in various industries such as retail, call centers, healthcare, government, hospitality, nonprofits, and continuing education. Gwen earned her CPLP® (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) from the Association of Talent Development and holds a master’s degree in education specializing in Training & Performance Improvement from Capella University.  She has dedicated her career to helping adult learners reach their professional goals through effective job training. (Rita) Makana Risser Chai, VP of Membership, is an attorney who founded a Silicon Valley company to provide programs on HR law compliance and creating respectful workplaces by preventing sexual harassment. She developed and designed curricula, trained 100+ licensed trainers, and delivered more than a thousand programs in 38 states. In 1998, she decided to move to Hawai'i, and became a stress and wellness consultant, forgiveness facilitator, and instructor of yoga and Pilates. She is the author of two books on Hawaiian healing with lomilomi massage, and of Mindful Multitasking: Timeless Techniques for a Vibrant Mind, Strong Body, Happy Heart, and Light Spirit. She presents programs on sexual harassment, legal compliance, instructional design, facilitation skills, Mindful Multitasking, work-life balance, and stress management for corporations and associations. Valerie Koenig, VP of Finance, is a coach and facilitator with The Alternative Board Hawaii, a business development and leadership organization. She enjoys working with business owners on peer advisory groups and providing executive coaching. Her MBA is in finance and accounting and she is enjoying learning more about talent development. Ku‘ulani Keohokalole, VP of Marketing, is a Senior Consultant with Solutions Pacific LLC, and owner of People Strategies Hawai'i LLC, advising leaders on how to create functional, healthy, and engaging workplaces. Prior, she served in OD consulting capacities at Bank of Hawai'i and Lili'uokalani Trust. Her passion for training and ongoing performance improvement stems from her upbringing; she was raised by a family of Native Hawaiian social workers with a strong belief in the ability of communities to advocate for and solve their own problems. She serves on the board of directors of KEY Project in Kahalu'u and KAI LOA, a non-profit supporting Ke Kula o Samuel Manaiākalani Kamakau Hawaiian Immersion Charter School, where her children attend. Ku'ulani holds an MA in Educational Leadership, Politics and Advocacy from New York University and a BA from UH Mānoa. Wendilee Adkins, VP of Records, is Training & Organizational Development Manager at Central Pacific Bank, and has been a member of ATD Hawai'i since 2008.
 



Andrew Muccio, VP of Technology, is an Instructional Design Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton who is currently working with the US Army on curricula development projects. He has 10 years of experience in the learning and development field working on various instructional design projects for government agencies.  Andrew truly enjoys applying an instructional design methodology that marries robust learning theory and research to meaningful training delivery vehicles. Brandie Ota, Director of Volunteers, has led UHA Health Insurance’s Associate Services team since June 2016. As the Associate Services Manager, she leads by example to ensure effective and efficient implementation and maintenance of Human Resource policies and procedures and plays a vital role in the successful execution of UHA’s strategic initiatives to foster the development and retention of UHA’s most important asset—their people. Brandie is active in SHRM, and has volunteered with the American Diabetes Association, assisted the Junior League Hawai’i on a project for Hale Kipa, and Innovators of Fashion at the University of Hawai’i-Manoa with preparations for their annual fashion show. Prior to joining UHA, she served as a Human Resource Generalist for Aloha Care, and worked for G&L Kunishima Enterprises, Target, and Macy’s.
