Move Beyond Accessibility with Universal Design for Learning. April 23rd, 2025. 11:30-12:30. Virtual event. Gwen Navarrete Klapperich, M.Ed., CPTD, CPACC. atdhawaii.org/events.

In today's global, diverse world, trainers must go beyond accessibility to reach a variety of learners, including those who may have disabilities, those who have low literacy, or those who are multi-lingual. Explore the principles of Universal Design for Learning and how this method can help TD professionals reach as many learners as possible.

This presentation was delivered at the ATD International Conference and Exposition in 2023/ 2024 and at ATD CORE 4 in 2024. Attendees will be placed into a drawing to win a copy of TD at Work: Enhance Accessibility in Virtual Training Environments.

Job Applications/Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe various learning challenges or barriers that diverse learners may encounter in traditional training programs.
  2. Apply Universal Design for Learning concepts to the design of their current and future training programs.
  3. Incorporate UDL concepts in training facilitation to increase accessibility & understanding for a diverse group of learners.
